Mentoring for Success is a Tasmanian State Government program designed to increase apprenticeship and traineeship commencements and completions by supporting an escalation in the use of Group Training Organisations by Small to Medium Enterprises in all industries
across the state.
Is my business eligible as a Work & Training Host Business?
Your business may be eligible if:
- You are registered on the Australian Business Register.
- Your business is a Small to Medium Enterprise (SME). An SME is defined as an Australian business employing less than 200 people.
- You have not used the services of a listed GTO in Tasmania in the previous 5 years from the commencement date of the training contract.
- You host the apprentice or trainee in a workplace physically located in Tasmania.
- The apprentice or trainee is over 18 years of age (or have otherwise completed their compulsory education obligations under the Education Act 1994).
- The apprentice or trainee commenced in a valid training contract, dated on or after 1 March 2021.
- The apprentice or trainee is classified as a new worker on that training contract.
- The apprentice or trainee is hosted by your business at the time of payment of the installments of the grant.
How much is the subsidy?
- The grant payable for each apprentice or trainee employed on a full-time basis is $6000.
- The grant payable for each apprentice or trainee employed on a part-time basis is $3000.
- Part-time does not include school-based training contracts.
- Work & Training will pass the full $6,000 onto the Host Business to offset the charge for our services.
- Up to 200 places (or full-time equivalent) will be supported by the grants.
Anything else I should know?
- If the apprentice or trainee is employed by Work & Training we register and apply for the subsidy for you.
- Work & Training host businesses that receive the Federal Government Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements funding will still be eligible to apply for Apprentice and Trainee Grant for Small Business and Mentoring for Success.
